This is a little essay-game I made for Bitsy Fest — I've been having a lot of fun playing around with the engine over the past couple of months, and the game jam theme "Museum" felt like the perfect time to dive into an idea I had about my favorite place in NYC, Governors Island.  I've been going regularly for the past decade; it's changed a lot, and will continue to.

I barely scratched the surface of its mysterious, creatively invigorating energy (and didn't get the chance to play around with the Bitsy music or sound editors, which I'd like to get a handle on), and am very excited to return to this piece later for a few more touchups.

Sometimes I wish to do a Bitsy game just like this, where I share an image of someplace that is valuable to me and tell the story of my relationships with it. But then more and more ideas creep in, and I end up with a huge convoluted mess of a game that has lost most of its simplicity and personality in the process. You've managed to avoid this trap and pulled off a really nice game!

Thank you for sharing your special place with us! Now I want to visit Governor's Island too one day, it seems like the kind of place I would like to :)

THis is nice, now I want to know more about the weird islands around New York

Cute game! This has a lovely atmosphere :)
